Super Foods --- Coconut

In our cultural, regional and national cuisine there are several Super Foods, easily available, and essential to enhancement of health. Of body and mind. I start here today a series of Super Foods we must include in our daily intake for optimum wellness.


The first Super Food of my choice is Coconut.


As a young student, I remember learning in my science class, that the Coconut tree was a SUPER-TREE, as every part of the tree was useful - fruit , water, oil , leaves, trunk, husk, and I thought how awesome that is. Today, years later, the coconut is the most popular NUT, versatile, delicious, and widely used in more than just Indian cuisines. There are many healthy and delicious recipes with coconut available.


This simple and easily available mega food boosts Immunity, and is rich in good fat, vitamins and minerals, like potassium. A table spoon of virgin cold-pressed edible coconut oil with some turmeric added to it is an anti-viral miracle that can protect from various infections.


Add coconut milk to gravies and vegetables, enjoy coconut chutney with meals, add coconut water to your favourite beverage, coconut oil (cold pressed, virgin, edible) for your hair and skin, and include chopped coconut to your snack list. Organic coconut sugar is far healthier than the table white sugar.
