Did you think you are unhealthy because of your genetic framework, body type, lifestyle, lack of exercise? Yes, all these certainly do play a part. But they are only your 'achilles heel'. These are inner triggers waiting to explode if given the right environment.
What is the right environment for these inner triggers? Stress, fear, anger, grief, anxiety, loneliness, irritation, domination, submissiveness, envy, confusion, et al are the creators of this environment that breeds dis-ease. Disease is often considered to synonymous with illness. But let us look at the word again. The word is dis-ease. The lack of ease. The absence of calm. A state of unrest and imbalance. It does not take rocket science to know that when we are not feeling happy, excited, nurtured, and strong we get into a state of inner turmoil. If this state existed on infrequent occasions, our body's natural ability to set itself right would restore the temporary state of imbalance and dis-ease.
The problem occurs when this state becomes a permanent one. When the thoughts are constantly harsh, fear-filled, angry, judgmental, critical, self-negating or negative in any manner, they lead to emotions that reflect these thought patterns. Conversely, when the emotional state is a constant one of loneliness, rejection, envy, rage and so on, the thoughts that are engendered are disruptive and separative.
The permanent state of dis-ease creates a disease. To heal the disease, and to ensure that it does not create more physical damage, the inner environment has to be restored to its natural state of Love. Love expresses itself as laughter, delight, enthusiasm, faith, hope, trust, confidence, respect and togetherness. These create an inner alkaline environment in which illness cannot arise or thrive. Anger, fear, stress, worry, joylessness, pessimism, hatred, gloom, and so on bring about a highly toxic environment that is acidic in nature, and which is a breeding ground for all ailments.
Health is in our hands. Conflict, challenges, stress, and disappointment are part and parcel of human life. Reactions to these are also normal. But, recognition of our reactionary patterns, and healing them instantly, ensures that we remain in a state of health and happiness. The choices we make for ourselves shall then be uplifting ones that enrich our lives and help and support others.
